After conducting a survey of 20,000 people, Oricon has determined who Japan's favorite artists of 2012 are.
Topping the chart for the 3rd consecutive year is Arashi. The group's popularity remains high among most demographics, including older people. The group's popularity has come from their numerous music releases, drama roles, variety show appearances and commercial shoots.
Ikimonogakari ranked 2nd in this year's poll for the 3rd year in a row as well, showing the group's continued success and popularity.
The favorite artist ranking began in 2004. So far, the only artists to named the popular artist of the year are Utada Hikaru (2004, 2007, 2008), aiko (2005, 2006), Mr.Children (2009) and Arashi (2010, 2011, 2012).
