Sunny Reprises Her Role as ‘Brenda’ in the Musical ‘Catch Me If You Can’

Sunny has returned as “Brenda” for a second run of the musical “Catch Me If You Can”. Her first performance was met with several wreaths and a generous rice donation.
The wreath from Girls’ Generation starts with, “Soonkyu’s cuties, Girls’ Generation bbuing bbuing”, reminding everyone of Sunny’s infamous aegyo. The hangul of “Girls’ Generation” is written as “소 ㄴ 녀시대”, which is a pun that means “Granddaughters’ Generation”. The members are making a reference to the wreath they sent for the first run of the musical, in which they used the nickname “60Sunny“. The second ribbon finishes the message by using a play on the girls’ hit song, “Run Devil Run”: “OH The one even greater than them, Kyurenda returns OH”.
Another wreath was sent by usnthem, a Korean Girls’ Generation fan-club.The message says, “Our Sunny’s confidence is tall, and her self-conviction is tall, too.” Then it adds, “As for height, this tree is ta—ller [for her] instead”. Fan-clubs also donated rice in celebration of Sunny’s first performance, amounting to a grand total of 1,676 kilograms.

Heechul Voted as #1 Unwanted Son in law

On the winter special episode of MBC Music’s 'All the K-POP' broadcasted onbDecember 14, there was an interesting survey of 100 housewives who live in Seoul about ‘Which member of Super Junior would you least want as a son-in-law?”.

This part was cut from the special on Lee Teuk’s entrance into the military because it went over the time limit. The result was that ‘Universe Star’ Kim Hee Chul won first place. The reasons were, “His pretty face would make many women fall for him”, “He looks like he would cheat a lot” and these were many other reasons why they felt that Hee Chul’s outstanding looks would not make him a suitable son-in-law.

Lee Teuk responded to this result, “Heechul has a peculiar charm. He has the fatal charm that when he falls into something, he cannot escape it. I think that I would have a hard time with him if I were a woman” and made everyone laugh. Folowing the ranking was Yesung at #2 and Siwon at #3. Lee Teuk was last place and won the honor of being the most wanted son-in-law.

The 180 Minutes that Explained the Reason Why B1A4 is "The President of Girls"

It was the 180 minutes that proved the B1A4's potentials as "The President of Girls".
On 8th, the quintet idol group B1A4 (Jinyoung, Baro, Sandeul, CNU, Gongchan) opened their first exclusive concert, "BABA B1A4" at Seoul Olympic Handball Stadium.
The reason why B1A4's concert is catching one's attention is because it's an exclusive concert opened only after debuting for about 500 days and after considering the fact that there are only a handful of boy groups in the domestic music industry that have the ability to open their exclusive concert, for a rookie group who hasn't even debuted for a full 2 year to hold their solo concert is an extremely exceptional case.
The biggest reason why B1A4 could open their exclusive concert this fast is because of their strong and firm formation of fandom which is solid enough to make them "The President of Girls". After debuting in April 2011, B1A4 gained more than 120,000 domestic fans, now boasting a solid fandom.
As if B1A4 was actually proving their solid fandom, tickets for "BABA B1A4" were sold out in 5 minutes and additional tickets were sold out in 10 minutes. Total of 11,000 tickets were all sold out and it was safe to said that all fans who visited their concert hall were teenage girls, showing overwhelming age groups and gender and proving that their nickname- "The President of Girls" was not an overstatement.
Furthermore, as if the five members of B1A4 were responding to their fans' anticipation they started their show with "Beautiful Target" and continued with their hit songs, "Bling Girl", "Because of you", "Tried to Walk" and received explosive cheering.
That's not all, B1A4 progressed their concert in an unique way called "Music Drama" along with the beauty of exclusive concerts- member's solo stages and surprise cross-dress stage and by preparing many various performances, they released their charms which they couldn't show their fans till now and made the concert more splendid and colorful.
Showing off their stage manners and live performance talent which are unlike any other rookie, after creating a 180 minutes full of passion and cheering, B1A4 said, "Standing on this stage feels like a dream and I'm happy." and continued "For us to open a concert after debuting a year and 8 month was only possible because of you guys.", not forgetting the appreciative words to their fans.
At present, most of the boy groups aim on fandom than popularity and B1A4 is selected as the most successful group to secure a solid fandom among the recently debuted groups.
For this reason, they receive criticism as a group that is only popular among a specific age group but the charms displayed by B1A4 on this day became a good reason why the girls fell for them.
Meanwhile, B1A4 held their first exclusive concert "BABA B1A4" on 8th and 9th at Seoul Olympic Handball Stadium for 2 days.

G-Dragon talks about K-Pop Hype, New EP and Past Scandals on XXL Magazine!

XXL Magazine: “Korean Rapper G-Dragon Talks K-Pop Hype, New EP and Past Scandals”!
The hairstyles are colorful, dance routines are perfectly choreographed, and the music’s stupidly infectious. If you don’t know, get to know K-pop: South Korea’s globetrotting bubble-gum music spree. The players are well-groomed “idols” that have gone through years of rigorous training, and the label heads are masterminds that oversee nearly every movement of their creations. Despite its manufactured tendencies, the fans—from Paris to Tokyo—love it. And it’s evident in the numbers as the profit margin increases yearly, raking in the billions (trust, they’re dollars not yen).
And while the obedient ones rake high sales and earn national darling statuses, what the critics and the kids want is someone who’s edgy. Enter: Big Bang’s G-Dragon. First came onto the scene as South Korea’s answer to Lil Bow Wow, the 24-year-old Kwon Ji-yong made his mark as a future star at an early age. Under the tutelage of South Korea’s de-facto hip-hop imprint YG Entertainment, Kwon made appearances on tracks of the label’s then poster acts throughout his teenage years. So his official debut as a member of boy band Big Bang initially came as a surprise. The results, however, were staggering, as the quintet spread across Asia’s pop market as a recognized force, with G-Dragon’s self-produced and written songs (“Last Farewell” and Lies”) amassing tremendous success.
His first solo album, Heartbreaker, released in 2009, continued his ascendancy as the country’s most influential icon for youth culture. His outfits inspire knockoffs, while acts of lesser foundation bite his musical style. Plus, unlike the typical clean-cut image administered by most K-pop acts, G-Dragon amassed a string of scandals (accusations of him puffing lye—a punishable offense in South Korea—and plagiarizing foreign music have made national headlines). Is he South Korea’s Kanye West? Certainly, it’s not an overstatement.
With his latest EP One of a Kind causing more noise than any other release from a K-pop artist this year, G-Dragon’s riding high from his own success. While in New York City for Big Bang’s Alive World Tour last November, XXL spoke with Korea’s most popular and recognized idol/rap artist. —Jaeki Cho (@JaekiCho)

XXL: How did you first get introduced to rap and hip-hop?
G-Dragon: I was about nine years old when I first heard Wu-Tang’s “C.R.E.A.M.” Before that, I didn’t know anything about rap or hip-hop. I was just into Korean pop. This was before the K-pop phenomenon. I just listened to regular commercial music from Korea. I would just follow the choreographed dance routines. I didn’t have any ambitions of pursuing rapping. I liked dancing, so I did that. I occasionally rapped along to some homegrown Korean rap. And then a friend introduced me to Wu-Tang, and played me Enter the 36th Chambers.
It was very shocking. And then I started to look for different albums. This was pre-Internet, so it’s hard to find the music, and it was even harder to find music videos. So I’d watch things little by little. If I saw a music video, I would watch it over and over again. And when I got to the fifth grade, I wrote my first verse. It was terrible, but I did it. [Laughs.] I started to listen to more Korean rap instead of Korean pop, which was still a very niche, underground genre at the time.

XXL: You debuted at a young age. You were part of a Korean hip-hop compilation album called Hip-Hop Flex 2001.
G-Dragon: There was this hip-hop collective called People Crew. And at the time, in Korea there was no real place to access rap music. So People Crew used to host this summer school program, which taught rapping and dancing. I begged my mom to attend that school to learn how to rap. And from the guys at People Crew I would get compliments that I was good.
They introduced me to Lee Hee-sung, who was the leader of this four-member rap group called X-Teen. At the time Bow Wow was a big deal. I guess Hee-sung thought Korea needed its own version of a Bow Wow, and I think he wanted to be Jermaine Dupri. [Laughs.] So I was featured on Hip-Hop Flex 2001, and that made headlines in Korea as the youngest rapper in the country. YG Entertainment took notice and decided to take me in.

XXL: So you wanted to be a rapper. Then how did you react when you found out that you’re debuting as a member of a boy band?
G-Dragon: At first, I had no idea what was going on. I couldn’t understand it. Taeyang and myself were trainees at YG for a long time. So we figured we would debut as a hip-hop duo, a group of sort. Then they decided to pick three more members, and was planning on having us debut as an idol group. I wasn’t too fond of it. I actually hated it. I knew T.O.P as a kid, so we were friends. But I didn’t know the other two members. We didn’t know what we were supposed to do, so we would just practice choreography everyday. I really didn’t know what was going on. But YG, the label itself puts out boy bands, but they don’t strictly deal with bubblegum pop music. Since its foundational core is based around hip-hop, I trusted the label’s directions. It went well, so I’m satisfied now.

XXL: How would you say Big Bang is different from other K-pop groups?
G-Dragon: These days, the musicality of idol groups have improved—I mean, there’s still a very few who actually produce or write their own music. But as a K-pop idol group, at the time of our debut, we were the only ones who produced and wrote our own music. I think we were the first as K-pop idols. So if I would pinpoint a difference, is the fact the members write their own songs. Since we make our own songs, we have a better understanding and appreciation when we perform on stage. We know what we’re good at. It’s not like somebody’s giving us a song. We’re doing what we like to do. So it helped us build a tighter world of our own, musically. Music needs to be associable. Since we’re writing our own music, we’re better at expressing our own thoughts and feelings, instead of someone else translating those feelings for you.

XXL: I heard from Choice37 (YG’s in-house producer) that you tweak and reconstruct tracks to fit your own vision. Explain your songwriting and production process.
G-Dragon: Ever since I was a kid, one of the assignments I received from YG Entertainment was writing songs. When I was in middle school, they would tell me to write one song per week. By that I mean, coming up with your melodies and lyrics by using an American instrumental. I did that for about a year. And then, the time duration shortened. I was told to write a new song every three days, and then it became two days, and one day. Since I was trained to do it for so long, writing a song a day became really easy for me. It kind of became a hobby. On top of that, I have a good support system. Whether it’s Teddy, or now it’s Choice, they produce a lot of tracks and laid the groundwork for me. I would say they do most of the work, and I kind of oversee the direction.

XXL: The videos for “One of a Kind,” and “Crayon” made a lot of noise on the viral sphere. Who is director Suh Hyun-seung? And how much creative input did you have in those videos?
G-Dragon: Suh Hyun-seung is really, just crazy. He’s a real outsider. Kind of an otaku. He’s not social. Doesn’t meet a lot of people. He’s not driven by money. If he’s shooting a video, he’ll listen to the song, and if he likes it, he’ll work on it. He needs to have a vision. He needs to have a creative connection with the artist. I feel like a lot of other artists, even though they want to work with him, they can’t. [Suh] is the type that if he listens to your music, and doesn’t like it, he won’t answer you. Luckily, he likes the music put out by my company, and during the creation process, we met on a daily basis.
He has his own editing room at the YG headquarters. And when you think of it as work, I feel like it doesn’t really come out the way you want. That pertains to anything. Whether it’s music, song, fashion, or video. You just got to chill, look at funny videos, talk about what could be a good idea. I care a lot about the aesthetics of my videos. And I try my best to be as detail oriented as possible. For instance, if people only think of direct translations of the lyrics, we want to illustrate that with a twist to give it a deeper meaning. So when people see it, they’ll say, “Oh, that’s interesting how that could mean something different.” Instead of making a video that’s worth a glimpse, we try to make something that has replay values
XXL: How are the music videos for your solo projects different from group efforts?
G-Dragon: When we’re working on videos for Big Bang, since the group’s more mainstream, we tend to concentrate on catering to a broader audience. When I’m working on my solo projects, I just do what I want to do. I can be funny, funky. My image itself isn’t all that clean cut, so for this project, I tried to have more fun with it. All the singles from the project are very different. So the director and I tried our best to highlight those elements.
XXL: “That XX,” felt very personal. Was it based on real-life events?
G-Dragon: All the songs I write, I mean, of course, some level of fiction is in the mix, but I try to write my own stories for the most part. I wouldn’t say I completely went through that same experience, but when I felt those types of emotions, I remembered it well, and I just jotted it down.

XXL: That’s unfortunate.
G-Dragon: Man, I could be a sucker. [Laughs.]

XXL: Are you?
G-Dragon: Now? Maybe not. But when I was younger, just because you like someone doesn’t mean she’ll be with you. I’ve had many experiences when the feelings weren’t mutual. [Laughs.] When I’m on the rap tip, I could rap about sluts, I could do all of that, but when I’m singing a love song, it needs that mournful, loser’s emotions in a way. I think that works better. It’s kind of that Korean ballad sentiment.
XXL: Since we’re on the subject of writing and producing, I want to ask you about the scandals you faced for plagiarism. I thought it was just a lack of understanding for sampling in South Korea. Thoughts?
G-Dragon: Umm, I don’t know. I’m Korean. I grew up in Korea. And there are still many things in the Korean music industry that has not yet been figured out. I think it’s totally understandable that people don’t grasp the concept of sampling. And everybody will have a different take on the song. It’s not really about right or wrong. Just because a select few believe it, don’t mean they’re wrong either. If they felt that way, then that’s what it is. In the end of the day, I’m not ashamed, so I don’t really comment on it.
XXL: I think after Big Bang, there’s been a surge of many K-pop idol groups with very similar styles. What are your thoughts?
G-Dragon: Uh-huh. [Laughs.] I like it, personally. I’m sure it’s not all because of us. But after our debut a lot of K-pop idols with more concentration on their music definitely started to appear more. I don’t know how much of them really do it, but to actually have idols that write their own songs is a good thing.

XXL: But you don’t feel a certain way about them biting Big Bang’s style?
G-Dragon: I did feel a certain way. I felt that way before. Maybe two years ago? When I was a little younger? Not saying I’m old, but back then whether it was style or music, I didn’t want to be lumped into a category. Now, I don’t really care. It’s whatever. When I look at the bigger picture, to see how it’ll influence the generations that’ll come after us, I think having more artists is a good thing. There needs to be more people that are good, so I can be better, too. They’re saying this and that about Korean Wave—I don’t really believe it.

XXL: I’m glad you mentioned that. What are your thoughts about K-pop’s current boom? Is it a bit odd for you?
G-Dragon: I don’t really think I know myself. I don’t quite get how [K-pop] is functioning. But I’m certain that we need to grab the approval when we have the chance. Unfortunately, in Korea, I feel some people are just seeing the dollar signs. Sending out artists who aren’t fully prepared out into the foreign markets. I’m still against such approaches. There’s definitely good and bad. Obviously, it’s huge that such a small country is able to churn out talents to come all the way out to the U.S. and Europe.
It’s also serving as a gateway to the Korean culture. The music, the people, and the arts are spreading; I think that’s the good part. The bad part is seeing artists who we look at and just don’t feel like they’re good. This is my personal opinion, but there are some acts that I’m a little embarrassed to look at. Since the people here don’t know much about Korea, their perceptions about its music will be restricted to those acts. That’s a bit unfortunate.

XXL: Well, then is G-Dragon part of K-pop?
G-Dragon: I don’t hate the title. Because at the end of the day, it’s pop music from Korea. But in the long run, I don’t want to be affiliated with that name. I don’t want to go to a foreign country and get lumped into that genre. I’m just looking at the bigger picture. This K-pop title might be good for now, but looking ahead it could hold me back, like a prison of sort. I’m a little wary about that.
XXL: You started out as a rapper, and then became an idol, and now you’ve become an artist. Which title do you prefer?
G-Dragon: I’ve always liked being a rapper. I’d like to be remembered as a rapper. Somehow I ended up singing, too. I mean, I enjoy it. I’m having fun. But my roots is rap and hip-hop. So, I’m going to be a rapper. [Laughs.]
XXL: Now that you’ve acquired some level of success as a solo artist, you ever thought about branching out and starting your own imprint?
G-Dragon: I’ve been with YG since I was a kid, so I never even thought about anyplace else. I think YG provides the best environment for a musician. I’ve met many artists in America, artists in South East Asia, and I think it doesn’t matter where you go; there isn’t really a place like YG anywhere. It really gives a lot of support, it doesn’t hold back on helping artists who want to create music.
Since we can do a lot of different things, and not have to worry about money, it’s great. And I never thought about a label, or I’m just not really confident yet. I’ve never done it. I think a business guy is separate from an artist. They walk different paths. Artists create the best outputs when they’re having fun. And when a good business partner supports them from the side, it creates great synergy. When someone’s trying to do both, I think the music gets bad and the business gets bad.

XXL: You ever felt like the Korean market is a bit stuffy and restricting? Whether it’s the weed scandal or the sampling issue, these things are nothing in America.
G-Dragon: I wouldn’t say it’s stuffy. I mean there are definitely times I feel that way. Times I don’t understand it. But the cultures are shifting for the better. And, you know, I’m Korean, man. [Laughs.] You know if you’re in Rome, live in the Roman way. I grew up there, I was born there, and so I should follow its guidelines, live like a Korean. And I really love Korea. I grew up listening to Korean music, and was able to get to where I am. There are definitely times I’m not satisfied, but I’ve gained a lot more and learned a lot more. I think it’s going to get better, and myself included, many people are trying to shed new lights on the culture and keep it moving.

Song JiHyo: “Kim Jaejoong, a Friend that I’m Thankful for, a Stimulus for Me”

Photobucket

“It always takes me long time to get acquainted with my co-stars. Even if I try hard, it still takes me a long time to open myself up to someone. It’s my weak point. But this was not the case with Jaejoong, which was a big advantage for me. It was great that I didn’t feel any burden towards him as we were acting together. However, the downside is that because we’re too close to each other, I couldn’t take on an objective view of Jaejoong. Just by looking, I can tell that he indeed worked very hard, did very well and I just find it admirable.”

Song Jihyo didn’t have a love line with such lovely little brother Kim Jaejoong, which is somehow regrettable. “Many people looked at the movie poster and were looking forward to the love line between me and Jaejoong. Actually, one of the reasons for me to choose this movie was that I wouldn’t have love line with him. If, instead, I were to have a love line with someone I didn’t know, then I would be able to fully concentrate. But if I had a love line with Jaejoong, I would feel uneasy. He’s one of my lovely younger brothers. If I had love line with that younger brother, it would be so embarrassing that we wouldn’t be able to face each other. Therefore, rather than regret, I think it’s a relief.”

Song Jihyo revealed that acting with Kim Jaejoong has inspired her.
“I don’t know if Jaejoong has more practical experience than me but his sense of realism, ad-lib and flexibility are very remarkable. Although this is his first movie, I was indeed the one who was inspired. When I acted with the seniors, I had to follow the scenario. But when I worked with Jaejoong, there were many witty surprises; the ad-libs were good and we made many NGs too. Many scenes came out better thanks to Jaejoong. To the point that director-nim didn’t make the ‘cut’ sign in the scenes with Jaejoong. He said that he was curious about what Jaejoong would do.”

“This is Jaejoong’s first movie. Since he tried very hard and gave his all, I think instead of just praising him, I should give him a round of applause. A Kim Jaejoong who stayed strong under any circumstance and perfectly digested his role should be praised. I hope that many people won’t see Jaejoong as Jaejoong but as the character he plays.”
Come to think of it, the bond between Song Jihyo and JYJ’s members is deep. She appeared in a music video with Kim Junsu and has close relationship with Park Yoochun.

“People usually say ‘God is fair’. But I don’t think so when I look at Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu. If you look at Jaejoong or Yoochun, they can compose songs, write lyrics and can act well too. I went to watch Junsu’s musical. He was so good. Those guys have great abilities that can amaze people.”

“One of the reasons that I was able to freely get close to my brothers JYJ was that many of their fans kindly welcomed me. I think they feel like I will protect my little brothers. They even came to my fan-sign event and said ‘Please take care of oppa’. I’m thankful that they support me a lot. Thanks to JYJ’s fans, we’re able to be close like sister and brothers.”

Kim Jaejoong “I Wanted to Break Free from My Heavy Image”

# The charm of acting? Finding the answers one by one.

Compared with the two dramas ‹Protect the Boss› and ‹Dr. Jin›, the result of this movie fell short of expectations. Nevertheless, it broke with precedent and he showed enthusiasm in the interviews. Even though the movie was already released, the media is still looking to engage with him.

“As an actor, it’s meaningful to me because it was an opportunity to show a different kind of acting. I also considered other movies but the characters in this movie appealed to me.”

“When I played Kim Kyungtak in ‹Dr. Jin›, the burden was big because after ‹Protect the Boss›, Kim Kyungtak was also a heavy role. I tried hard to avoid comments such as ‘Here he acts like that again’. It was good that Choi Hyun wasn’t a serious character. I don’t even know how long it’s been since I was able to show a bright and playful image.”

As a member of idol group TVXQ and then JYJ, he maintains top position in Asia. However, positioning himself as ‘actor Kim Jaejoong’ is different. Unlike many singer-origin stars who debut in acting with a title role, he did not rush and received good and favorable evaluation for his clever choices.

“Surely large amounts of screen time and high ratings are great. However if I want to take on a long path as an actor, I think my choices weren’t bad. Kim Kyungtak in ‹Dr. Jin› wasn’t an easy decision but it has become an important stepping stone for me. Instead of a main role in a blockbuster, finding the unknown answers one by one is indeed the true charm of acting to me.”

# “I always look for a medium in which to communicate with fans”

After 3 years and 4 months, the dispute with former agency over the exclusive contract has ended. Although he has finally found his freedom, it’s hard to expect immediate changes.  Managing to follow the path he has been walking until now, he can’t do anything other than wait for a change in activity environment.

“I always look for a medium in which to communicate with fans. I don’t want them to only remember and support an image of mine that they have seen in the meantime. Therefore, we appeared in movie and dramas, held fan-meetings abroad, released albums, held world tour. Although I can comfort myself that I am still young and have much time, it’s so unfortunate that we can’t appear on TV. It’s like we lost the biggest weapon.”

“I think the fans that support us are more depressed [than us] as we don’t have much activity,” Kim Jaejoong revealed the reason why they keep working without break. Three members already made a significant number of songs; JYJ will release an album next year and meet with fans around the world again. “There will be Korean songs as well as English songs. The possibility of collaboration with international artists is also opening up.”

“There are many things I want to try besides movie-drama-singing. I want to direct concerts, work on music for other singers and also star in plays and musicals. If I put my mind to it, I have confidence that I can get a certificate in Korean cuisine in just 2 weeks. Also, I can do very well if I can appear on variety shows. Ha ha.”

Eunhyuk hosts Mysterious Mountain Cabin on Come to Play

Super Junior’s Eunhyuk recently joined MBC TV’s Come to Play. He will now host Mysterious Mountain Cabin, a segment of the show, with Yoo Jae Seok, Kim Won Hee, and Eun Ji Won.
Because Yoo, Kim, and Eun have hosted the show together for a long time, the fact that Eunhyuk joined the show attracted a lot of attention.

Eunhyuk has already shown his talent to entertain viewers on SBS TV’s Kang Shim Jang. As he received a lot of attention after a picture of himself with IU was released on Twitter mistakenly, viewers wondered if he would mention about it on the show.

Eunhyuk didn’t avoid mentioning about it. Saying, “I feel sorry to join this show now,” he implied that he knows about the rumors of his romance with IU.

Many people guessed the reason Eunhyuk joined the show is that the production team of Come to Play wanted to increase the audience rating by using Eunhyuk, who is currently receiving a lot of attention with the rumors of his romance with IU.

However, the production team neither used nor protected Eunhyuk on the show. Instead, they tried to show Eunhyuk as he is.

The episode of the show aired on December 3 recorded an audience rating of 4.8 percent.

P.O Talks About his Friendship with Chanyeol

Block B‘s P.O mentioned EXO-K‘s Chanyeol on his Cyworld.
A few days back, Block B and EXO both attended MAMA 2012 which was held in Hong Kong. Photos snapped by the fans featuring P.O and Chanyeol greeting each other at the Hong Kong airport were recently revealed to internet, and it has aroused fans’ curiosity of their friendship. On December 2, P.O updated his Cyworld, finally revealing his long friendship with Chanyeol. He said:
If we are talking about it through this picture, I think it is a picture that a fan took the same time we arrived at Hong Kong, but it’s a hot reunion picture of meeting EXO’s Chanyeol hyung after about 5 years. Way back when I attended acting academy, for about two years we stuck together, but because we were busy with practicing we were not able to contact one another often. Although I debuted first, after that, he coolly debuted in a group called EXO, and when he went up to get the rookie award cooly at the MAMA award ceremony and sent me a proud smile, I felt really good and satisfied. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ EXO, I sincerely congratulate you for receiving your award~ !! And I wish that I can see Chanyeolie hyung often while promoting. Anyway our Block B EXO, I hope there are only good things for both teams^^!

Sandeul is a Different Person When He is Singing?

Sandeul is a different person when we are singing……!?

Q: Baro said before, that one of Sandeul’s good sides is his “depth of love for singing”.
[Baro] Huh? Did I say something like that?
[Everyone] (laugh).
[Sandeul It’s clearly noted in my memories!
[Baro] That is a wrong memory (laugh).
Q: Then, how about we verify this so that we make sure that that memory isn’t wrong (laugh).
[CNU] Ah~ That’s a good idea (laugh).
[Sandeul] Verify! Why am I the wrong one to begin with?
[Gongchan] That’s true~
Q: I apologize for that. Sandeul is the main vocal of B1A4 who has an overwhelming skill as a singer.
[Sandeul] (refreshes his head and becomes embarrassed)
Q: Since when did you have confidence to say that you were good at singing?
[Everyone] (laugh)
[Sandeul] No no, I have never thought that I was good at singing, not even once.
Q: REALLY!?
[Sandeul] It’s true. It’s still true even now. I just love to sing, and I’m always thinking about being better at singing.
[CNU] Sandeul’s earnestness and passion for singing can be felt by us who are always near him.
[Sandeul] Above all, I am the happiest when I’m singing. That’s why when I sing, I put in all of my effort.
[Baro] That’s true. Sandeul is a different person when he’s singing (laugh).
[Gongchan] He has a different aura!
[Jinyoung] You wouldn’t be able to think that “his life is a sitcom”. You especially can’t imagine that Sandeul when he is singing his solo parts.
[Sandeul] Eh, but I think I’m completely the same.
[Everyone] You’re totally different~~!!
[Sandeul]……(sinks). You guys don’t have to all deny it at the same time……
[CNU] That just shows how attractive you are when you’re singing!
[Sandeul] CNU hyu—ng! (embraces). But (all of a sudden calm) does that mean that I’m usually……
[Jinyoung] We’re complimenting you so don’t try to seek more!
[Sandeul] Am I really being complimented~
[Gongchan] We are praising you~
[Sandeul] Then, ok.
[Everyone] (laugh)
Q: By the way, do you usually practice singing even in the dorm?
[Sandeul] Yes. Not only me, but with the whole group.
Q: When you practice, is there someone who takes initiative and say “Let’s practice now~”?
[CNU] There isn’t a specific person(?)
[Jinyoung] We’re usually just like individually practicing and we just naturally come together and are just like “Let’s practice~”
[Baro] Pretty much. In our daily lives, we do vocal exercises as much as possible, but Sandeul, in order to keep his throat opened, he sings in the car while we’re going somewhere, and is also singing when he is showering at home.
[Sandeul] It’s good for my throat because there’s moisture. And there’s naturally an echo.
[Baro] Your voice echoes in the bathroom right! Additionally, Sandeul’s natural voice is already loud, but he sings seriously so his voice is even louder. Even if I have my rooms’ door closed, I can hear his singing.
[Jinyoung] It’s noisy (laugh). I’m used to it already, but in the beginning, when I was making songs, I wasn’t able to concentrate on working because I could hear Sandeul’s singing.
[Sandeul] Really~
Q: You didn’t tell Sandeul “You’re being noisy so please be quiet”?
[Jinyoung] I thought it was noisy, but I also thought that this was for Sandeul’s improvement so I shouldn’t say anything. I just listen.
Q: So you didn’t say anything for Sandeul’s sake.
[Sanceul] Jinyoung hyu—ng (clings on with tears)
Q: Everyone is so kind!
[Baro] But when I reach my limits, I open the window (laugh).
[Sandeul] So that’s what it was. I just thought that maybe because the air is bad~
[CNU] That’s a big misunderstanding (laugh). But I think you’re fine the way you are.
Q: Now that you know about the truth, what are you going to do about singing in the car?
[Sandeul] I won’t stop (straightforward). To become better and to grow as a singer, my everyday habits are important. But I don’t want to cause trouble to everyone so I will hold it down a little bit.
[Gongchan] You don’t have to mind until we open the window (laugh).
[Sandeul] (while sparkling his eyes) Really!? Then I will sing all the way until someone opens the window~!
[Everyone] (laugh)

Non-Fan Blown Away by Jaejoong

A non-fan posted the following account on DC Gallery after meeting Jaejoong at the Blue Dragon Awards.
Wow, Kim Jaejoong was really handsome with perfect skin. He is also quite tall and slim and has eyes so big that before I knew that he was Kim Jaejoong I thought that maybe he was a foreigner!!!! As he was climbing the stairs people were shouting ‘Kim Jaejoong!’ so he turned and waved with a big smile on his face. I was on the front lines and..wow…I had heard before that he was an idol who sang songs well, but seeing his face, it was like a sculpture. Even though he had his staff and friends standing next to him, it was like his face was shining and made everything else be at standstill.  And those big, big eyes…that kind of face shouldn’t belong to a human!!! Really, his skin was also so white and glowing that when I saw him his name automatically came out of my mouth as a scream. So I was screaming “Kim Jaejoong” along with his fans. And he was really all that I could see to the point where I did not even pay attention to the other actors that were there.

I am very sorry towards them!!!

Even more handsome than a normal idol, Kim Jaejoong had the aura and the incredible looks of an actor. Among the other actors and reporters and staff, he stood out so much. He’s truly handsome and has the glowing white skin that I am really envious of.

After I saw him live I wanted to write this report for JYJ Gallery. I wanted to make it longer, but in my excitement it seems all I can remember is his enviable skin and amazing looks.

Really, he did a good job in making an impression.

I hope I can see the handsome and modern Jaejoong again and again.

Also I owe an apology because in my nervousness and excitement I posted this on the TVXQ Gallery  first by accident, but I deleted it immediately. After looking at the posts and comments on there and learning about JYJ’s new freedom, I came and posted this here. I am along with all of you now celebrating JYJ being able to follow their dreams!

Sho Sakurai Fact

1.   He is bilingual (Japanese and English).

2.   He loves and cares about children!

3.   He is an alumni of Keio University, one of Japan’s most prestigious university , equivalent to the U.S.’s Ivy League schools such as Stanford, Harvard, Yale, and similar schools. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.

4.   His father is a government official and his mother is a professor at a prestigious women’s college (as well as an heiress to a huge company).   His family is basically a family of scholars and professionals. He is the only one in the entire Sakurai Family to be in the entertainment business, but his philosophies and influences are similar to his family’s philosophies.

5.   Back in his Johnny’s Jr. days, he was also one cute yet short little midget that he even earned the nickname mame (“bean”).

6.   For some odd reason and he doesn’t even know it himself at times, he is known and is in charge of the rhymin’ raps that they always have in their tracks!

7.   The place he would love to visit is New York, which he has visited with his fellow members (minus Nino ;_;) in 2001

8.   He has a little brother in the elementary years and often tutors him with his studies whenever he can..

9.   Back in his days as part of Johnny’s Jr., he was also the only one in Johnny’s Jr. history to show off a bit of his “tush” on Japanese National TV (and it is quite amusing too…). He was around 15 or 16-years-old when he did that. Rebellious, gutsy little guy, isn’t he?

10.   His close friends back in school always called him “SakuSho” since elementary school.

11.   Sho’s secret to success in studies? When there was an exam coming (probably about a month before the actual date of exam), he puts everything related to his career on hold, cancels or postpones his appearances in public, and spends his time at home (or in the library whenever he feels like it) studying. Best time to be free to do any extracurricular activities or resume his career is right after exam period .

12.   His favourite TV channels (or rather the ONLY TV channels that he watches on TV) are MTV and the Discovery Channel.

13.   His favourite magazine is Newsweek.

14.   He cannot go to sleep at night without reading a good book (a (classic?) novel, textbook, reference book, etc.) beforehand.

15.   He doesn’t feel comfortable or confident enough to take his shirt off just for a photo shoot (but if that’s what the director/photographer wants, then so be it…).

16.   His ideal girl? Sweet, simple, smart-dressed (no spaghetti-strapped blouses, no short one-piece dresses, no short-ass, tight-ass daisy duke shorts, etc.), non-smoking, NON-CELEBRITY girl WITH brains and an independent mind of her own.

17.   When he’s got a lot of time in his hands, he surfs in the Internet.

18.   He has a huge interest in history in general and hopes to study the field of History right after he earns his Bachelor’s Degree in.

19.   his days (especially his first days) are quite interesting.  Fans in Japan actually say that it’s easier to find Sho in Keio than in the TV studios, which is why lots of fangirls invaded Keio U. back then just to see Sho.

20.   Sho’s pet peeve is that he loses his cool easily (but he’s been trying to control himself regarding this pet peeve).

21.   There is a known incident among us fans that back when Sho was a Jr. and was on his way to the studios, he caught a fan taking pictures of him.

22.   Instead of acknowledging or ignoring, he actually came up to this girl, grabbed her camera, and threw it right at the subway tracks and started scolding her about Johnny’s rules and why she should follow them (one of the rules is that fans are not allowed to take pictures of idols whether if it’s on the scene or off the scene or even candid shots)

23.   There’s also another scene where Sho was entering Keio U. to take his entrance exams (so he could get in to the university).

24.   There was a mob of fans screaming and gawking at him as he was entering the gates.  Then the screaming got louder that Sho actually turned around to the fans and creamed “URUSAI YO!!” (shut up!) and few seconds later, all the fans fell silent as he entered the campus quietly.

25.   he takes everything seriously.

26.   His childhood is kind of pressuring because of his family background.  If you’re a kid whose parents have high-ranking positions such as a politician and a university professor, everyone would expect you to become someone successful, like a CEO of a corporation or a lawyer or something.

27.   Sho chose the entertainment industry because he always wanted to dance.  When he joined Jrs., of course, his friends and supporters were happy, but his parents are not exactly happy and those in their “social circle” looked down on the entire Sakurai Family (not just Sho, but the ENTIRE family) for having a son who is so incredibly gifted and talented to choose something “low” such as the entertainment biz.

28.   In other words, Sho’s days as Jr. isn’t exactly hunky-dory when it comes to his parents/family.

29.   But he proved everyone that he could still be a prestigious young man despite of him deciding to become an idol. He spent more time studying in school than his career that he even worked with Johnny and staff to work a schedule with him.

30.   There was another known story in which in the middle of the “Heaven Cannot Wait” drama filming that he had to ditch the shooting to get to class.  The director complained of Sho’s disappearance that he called Johnny for it (to get Sho in trouble), but Johnny just said: “He ditched because he had to go to class.  Wait until he returns.”

31.   Sho is truly one of the most hardworking idols in the entertainment biz (and not just Johnny’s).  This is why in Johnny’s, a lot of the younger idols respect him big time, like no one wants to mess w/ him, no one wants to get him mad.

32.   They call him Sakurai-senpai or even Sakurai-sama to the extreme because of that.

33.   A lot of Arashi fans (non-Sho fans) think that Sho is straight out unfriendly (I don’t blame Sho though), but see, that’s because these fans don’t understand what he’s gone through in the past, so much that sometimes he can’t help himself but snap out and lose his cool towards certain things.

34.   He finally gained the respect that he deserved from his family and his family’s social circle of intellects and successful individuals right after he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Economics.

35.   Especially w/ a BS (bachelor of science) in Economics at least his family knows that he does somehow plan to go further in to working in an industry based on the field of study that he took.

36.   When he is in Keio, he is there as a student, not as an idol.  He gets annoyed when other students act like psychopathic fangirls and scream and follow him around campus.

37.   In the beginning he was a loner because everyone is intimidated by him and his background, but it wasn’t until his first day of English class that he finally met and became friends w/ some of the guys there and made friends w/ 2 girls in that class (both are actually nerdy geeky girls who actually had no clue who Sho is).

38.   From then on he didn’t like being alone, he always stuck w/ his classmates… it’s like his friends are almost like his bodyguards.

39.   he talked in his sleep during 2002 Summer Concert. Ohno who was in the same room heard it very clearly at around 6am saying “let Aiba sleep!”. But he himself didn’t know anything about it.

40.   he doesn’t eat between meals.

41.   when he went 伊豆 hot spring with Myojo for shooting, it so happened that it was the place he went with his family 10 years ago. He called his mom on the spot just because of this.

42.   Arashi Car usually comes to fetch Sho after getting Ohno, Sho once saw Ohno’s feet on the manager’s head when he opened the car door… (大野くん, 何あってんのよ….)

43.   when he went outdoor shooting with Aiba on ‘Uso! Japan’, they interviewed a pop idol group. Sho said without thinking that he knew their songs, and sang quite awkwardly. But Aiba on the other hand, was singing along rather happily… (やっぱり相葉ちゃんだね~)

44.   「真夜中の岚」card reading prophesized that he’ll have to retain class (we all know it didn’t come true)
45.   his brother calls him ‘Bambi’ after watching ‘Kisarazu Cat’s Eye’

46.   his results are good, so his teachers wrote a recommendation letter for him to take the examination to enter Keio

47.   his father was a student from Keio since young, graduated in Todai, now a politition. His mother’s an English Literature teacher. He has a sister younger than him by 5 years, named 舞 and a brother younger than him by 13 years named Shu,修

48.   Aiba and Ohno influenced him to be less calculative about things.

49.   during the audition part of the Summer Concert, he was super nervous because he can hear fans talking as he sat quite close to them

50.   his ‘girlfriend preferences’ are quite similar to Ohno’s… (oooh, 危ない!)

51.   seem to like Aiba a lot lately, even ‘ex-love’ Nino complained about this in envy. After the photoshooting session for April’s DUET, he left with Nino. Later, he came back alone to the shooting scene to wait for Aiba instead. (wowzers… but then… 本当二遅いな相葉ちゃん… still not done yet after 翔くんreturned)

52.   he joined the Boy’s Brigade before, but he was bullied so he quit after 3 days joining (翔くんbeing bullied?! 信じられない~)

53.   in June, he got to know that they’re debuting with Nino

54.   he’s building up on his muscles (yeah, it’s pretty obvious)

55.   fast-thinker

56.   he was considered a senior in Johnny’s Junior before Arashi was formed.

57.   because he’s the rapper in Arashi, Japanese (who have bad English, really) calls him ‘raper Sho’ (what the?!!! Sho doesn’t go around raping girls!!!)

58.   he’s quite close to Imai Tsubasa. And there’s even a reason for it, because their name has the kanji character 井 and 羽

59.   he was called ‘Piano King’ in Music Jump

60.   he becomes super monstrous when he’s angry

61.   on the first day og entering his university, he asked for Nino’s help because he didn’t know how to fix his tie

62.   he likes to sing songs by female singers in KTV, like  songs by Amuro Namie (0.o)

63.   the short form initial of every male member in the Sakarai family is written as S. S.

64.   he loves ‘Frisk’ peppermint sweets very much, will usually finish up a box a day (まじかよ?!)

65.   he will read some comics before he goes to bed.

66.   once Sho thought it was his fan following him and hit her with his umbrella. it ended up being some random person just walking by him.

67.   Sho was telling the MAD jr’s to “HURRY UP!” because the MAD jr’s were too busy sending out peace signs during the Korea concert

68.   Sho liked tangerines so much so one day he ate so many tangerines that he ended up wetting his bed. From that day on, tangerines were out-lawed at Sho’s house.

69.   Once when Sho went to the convenience store there were girl students going crazy over Yamapi. They were looking at some magazine. Because Sho wanted to show off his kouhai he told the girls, “he’s a really close kouhai of mine!” but the problem is the girls didn’t know who he was.

70.   When Yamapi and Kame were filming Nobuta wo Produce. They fell upon Sho backstage. Sho was on the phone and the first person he was talking, he was talking so respectively. Then the second phone call he was talking down to as if it were a friend. So Yamapi & Kame decided that the first person was Johnny & the second person was probably his manager. After Sho got off the phone they were so curious so they asked Sho whom it was. It so happens the first person was his manager and the second person was Johnny.

Alice Shocking Confession: “I Like CNBLUE Jonghyun”

Hello Venus’ member, Alice revealed her affection towards CNBLUE member Lee Jonghyun and it is interesting how bold she was with her statement.

Alice appeared in the dual broadcast of tvN’s entertainment program “tvN eNews” on November 29 (11.45 am & 6pm KST) that revealed the history of “uncle fans” interest towards girl groups. Alice, a member of the rookie group Hello Venus is expected to be on the rise as s Options he always appears in shows these days.

During the broadcast, MC Kim Sungjo asked Alice who her favorite male singer and she boldly replied “CNBLUE Lee Jonghyun”. To that, the MC even asked Alice to send a video letter (to Jonghyun). Unlike the other girl group members in TV shows, Alice’s bold confession shocked Kim Sungjo as well as Cho Jinsu and Hwang Hyeyoung who were also in the studio.

Despite being the “face” of her group, Alice showed that her sense of entertainment is not to be belittled. Her charm in entertainment was shown when she impersonated singer Hyeon Sook.

G-Dragon Interview on K& Magazine

‘To some extent, I have been more relaxed. I can be said that I have more than I should have in the fields of music and life. I feel that I have been changing bits by bits. Although I am not a perfect adult yet but I am right in the middle of it.

I have told myself that ,’ I have to work hard to strive for the best in my life.’ I think it is because I have such a mindset so I can handle everything.’ One sentence from ‘Star G-DRAGON’ to ‘Young Jiyong’ ,’ Jiyong is really hardworking!~’

Q1) You don’t have any burden when your new album is released?
G-Dragon: Just a little bit. When I am doing music,I sometimes compulsive disorder to ‘always make some new music’. I think I am like this because I sense what others are perceiving me. If I want extraordinarily hard because of these expectations, I will just cannot produce good music that I want. Therefore, this album was produced not under any pressure. I just made it on my free will.
Q2 : What are the biggest differences between this one with your SOLO1?
G-Dragon : I am more relaxed this time. When I was producing the first solo album, i just wanted to convey some messages through it. The message was ’ no blood will come out even I was pinned.’ However, after trying out different kinds of music activities, I started to change and wanted to convey my real emotion that I have in my everyday’s life.
I want to express the feelings that everyone has once feel in music so I think people will feel my songs. Because I was making this album with this feeling, I felt more satisfied comparing with the time that I made my first album. If 100 are full marks, I think I at least can get 85 marks? (Laugh)
Q3 : The transformation in GDragon is ?
G-Dragon : Comparing with 3 years ago, it seems that I have handled my work better.I was like chasing after my thoughts without thinking much about the consequences before but now I think I know how to control it more. Although it looks like I am now calculating how much efforts I have paid, I am cleverer in making music now. I think it can help me to reduce the chances of errs, too.
When I am listening to SOLO 1 now, I would think, ‘why I would do the album like that?’ And there are times that I do not want to listen to it. However, if I listen to this album 3 years later, I think I will feel the same, too. When I am making music, I am growing at the same time, ain’t I?
Q4 : What is the concept of this album?
G-Dragon: To be frank, there are no special concepts. I just insert the mindset of ‘the 24-year-old G-Dragon has to keep on living’ into it. I also want to see how myself is through you., ‘G-Dragon is thinking like this.’ And ‘he is walking on the path of his life like this!’
Q5 : You composed all of the melodies and lyrics in the album.
G-Dragon : I was also very troubled as a translator since I think ,’ starting from now on, I cannot let others think that I am an amateur.’ Therefore, whenever I was free, I would write songs and lyrics.
And now my singer friends said ’ it is the music only G-Dragon can make’. Moreover, since the whole world is now concerning more about Kpop, I want to make more good songs which can be listed as classics.
Q6 : Please introduce the title song, ‘Crayon’.
G-Dragon : It is the combination between Crazy and Jiyong. It means ’ just crazy with G-Dragon like what you are crazy with other things’ and ’ let’s get crazy’. When I was producing it with Teddy, I wrote down the lyrics ‘Why So Serios?’ on the blank paper.
It is the famous line of the crown in the film ‘the Dark Knight’. I like the line very much. I want to say it to so many people, ‘why you have to be so serious?’ And I also want people to think ‘this kid has really gone crazy’ when they see my performance on the stage. Luckily, I am able to achieve all of these. PV is really interesting, too. I like it so much!
Q7 : Why you choose this as the title song?
G-Dragon: President Yang said I should choose an interesting song to be the title song. The period of producing such a song is really hard. At the very beginning, because I wanted to do what others wanted me to do, I ended up producing nothing. I was worried very much beforehand too because I could not write out the vocal part but I did it when I went out with Teddy.
When I was producing ’ Crayon’, once again I feel that I can only produce music with a light heart and when I am enjoying it. I am not saying if you have a lot of worries, you cannot produce good songs.
Q8 : You have worn a lot of costumes in the MV of ‘Crayon’, which one do you like best?
G-Dragon :The Frankenstein costumes that I wore in the second half of the MV. Since it is a gift from a designer that I love so much, I decided to wear it. Although I have worn that to dance, it was cut. I have also worn skirts like a girl! There are scenes showing a pretty girl looking back.
Because I dressed like a girl, there were loads of people asking whether it was really me. The back view was from a real girl and it was combined with my face.Because I am slim, there is such a misunderstanding! I have worn all of the costumes that I want so I am really satisfied!
Q9 ; There is your unique charm in the mv and the music of ‘One Of A Kind’!
G-Dragon : I want to show my unique side to you like it was my title song. In the song which ‘only G-Dragon can do it’ , I want to give you a free and impetuous feeling. Because it is the solo album which I have released after 3 years, I hope I can be ’one of the unique artist’.
Q10 : Is’ tha XX’ your real experience?
G-Dragon : Not all of the songs are my real experience. Everyone should have experienced love triangle before, I want to use some lyrics which is a bit sentimental to describe this feeling. If you witness your lover is having an affair, you will not say some gentle words, right?

Q11 : You label ‘that XX’ as a song which people under 18 cannot listen to…
G-Dragon: I set the borderline first. Although it was labelled like that, I don’t think the lyrics ‘that bastard’ is that tabooed. Comparing restricting myself from doing everything, isn’t it more important if I can show my thoughts to you?

Of course there are people who hate words like ‘that bastard’, I think there also have people who don’t think like this. I am just following my true self. If this song is entitled as ‘that guy’ or ‘that man’ , will the song still convey the same atmosphere?

Q12 : What do you think about the censorship system that the song’s MV had to go through before it was released?
G-Dragon: I was quite burdened. I think I should have been able to produce music which is even more out of the box, I could not finish it as what I had expected. Therefore, the MV looks a little bit plain. If it is like this, people cannot enjoy as much as they should …

Q13 :  You have collaborated with JAURIM’s Kim Eung-ah and Nell’s Kim Jong-wan.
G-Dragon : I tried to ask whether they are willing to ask and they promised to help in a very short time. I have asked for the permission of president Yang faithfully so he approved me of collaborating with Eung Ah noona to sing ‘Missing You’. Kim Jong Wan Hyun whom I sang ‘Today’ with , I knew him through Tablo hyun, though I know he is a very straight person. But in fact he is a very nice person. I have learnt loads of things after working with them.

Seeing their being able to present my products more than I myself can do, I have the feeling that ‘Aww.. no wonder they are my seniors.’ Because of this, I rethought again how I should work with the staff of my company. I also want to work with more people after this.

Q14 : The lyrics of ‘Light It Up’ is very interesting.
G-Dragon : I write the lyrics after watching ’ War Crimes’. I have also thought of including funny messages for the people who hate me. Originally I wanted to write this for a person who hates me but there are so many people dislike me, I just cannot dedicate it for a particular person.

That’s why the lyrics has now become ‘although you guys hate me, I don’t care even a bit.’ I know it is a bit naive, I just hope that you can find the lyrics cute. Because there are some cute elements in the rap starting from the very beginning.

Q15 : You have collaborated with other artists 4 songs out of the total 7!
G-Dragon: It is obviously 5 members of Big Bang has their unique charm, I will not pursuit voices other than these. Therefore, even if we want to collaborate with each other, it is kind of difficult. But since it is the solo album that I have not released for a long time, I am a little bit more greedy. (laugh)

Q16 : Who you think you must collaborate with?
G-Dragon : ‘Kim Bunjan’ of ‘Wind City’. There are songs which I have collaborated with other artists too but they are not included in this album. I thin it will be interesting too if i can collaborate with the artists of my company.
