Gaon Chart Releases Rankings for the Year 2012

Gaon Chart is the national record chart of South Korea. It is complied by the Korea Music Content Industry Association with an aim to create a national chart for Korea similar to the Billboard charts and Oricon charts.

Artist Confirmed for MAMA

The biggest Asian music festival MAMA 2012 will be held in the afternoon of November 30 at Hong Kong convention and exhibition centre (HKCEC). A lot of top stars from Korea, China such as Psy, Super Junior, Big Bang, Jackie Chan, Wang Lee Hom... will attend the award.

 

MAMA 2012 will be an unforgettable award for kpop fans as many popular idols will attend the show. Both Psy and Super Junior confirmed to join MAMA this year in Hong Kong. Recently, Big Bang, Sistar and Taiwan singer Wang Lee Hom have also confirmed to appear on MAMA stage.

 

 With their slogan "Music makes One", MAMA 2012 is expected to connect and help music lovers all around the world become One.

 

 Jung Il Woo and Song Seung Hun will also appear at MAMA as guests

                                                                          

Mnet's president, Ham Dong Chul shared: "MAMA is the music award represent Asia, and this year's award - 4th award - is the most important one. Within the past 2 years, MAMA has implemented as a music award for Asian area. The previous awards were held in Macau and Singapore. This year, the event once again shows the strength of Asian culture, with Kpop is in the centre".





 

Jung Woo Sung, Han Chae Young, Song Joong Ki and Yoon Eun Hye will also appear at MAMA 2012.

PSY's "Gangnam Style" in 2nd Place for The 3rd week in a Row on Billboard Hot 100 Chart

PSY manages to keep his 2nd place ranking on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 Chart for the week of October 20th, just under Maroon 5, who continues to keep PSY from taking 1st place for the third week running.

Two weeks ago, PSY broke his own record and became the first Korean artist to peak in 2nd place on Billboard Hot 100 Chart . He continued stay in 2nd place last week , proving a heated battle on the chart between himself and Maroon 5.

"Gangnam Style" also ranked in #13 for Pop Songs, #18 for Latin Airplay, #16 on Dance/Club Play Songs, #16 Radio Songs and #4 in Digital Songs.

J.Y. Park claims He's the Inspiration Behind Psy’s “Gangnam Style”?

J.Y Park recently showed his support for Psy and his success with 'Gangnam STyle'  on the October 12th broadcast of SBS‘ ‘Good Morning‘.
During the show, a clip of J.Y. Park claiming he is the inspiration behind the hit song caught the attention of viewers. J.Y. Park shared, “I started to support a YG artist because I heard that I was the inspiration behind the song,” and laughed shyly.
However, it seems that it was a misunderstanding as the clip of J.Y. Park was actually recorded before Psy released the song. A representative from JYP Entertainment explained that J.Y. Park filmed the support message to help out Psy, who is his hoobae and good friend. The representative added, “J.Y. Park, who is currently taking time off, probably doesn’t even know this misunderstanding occurred.”
Behind-the-scenes footage of Psy filming his unforgettable music video was also played on the program. Ironically, Psy commented, “Even as I’m filming it, [I feel like it doesn't make sense]. As I film scene after scene, [it feels like it’s in vain,” revealing that he did not expect the song and music video to become a global sensation.

PSY Releases Collaboration MV 'Gangnam Style' With Jill Stuart New York

PSY's popularity is still on the rise, both in the United States and worldwide, as shown in his latest release. On September 28th, PSY uploaded a new music video on his official Youtube channel . The video is another version of the music video for his worldwide hit, "Gangnam Style."

PSY's signature phrase, "Dress Classy, Dance Cheesy," became the concept of the music video. In the video, PSY is seen at a fashion event for Jill Stuart of New York, where even in the middle of all the well-dressed guests, PSY is performing his signature choreography for "Gangnam Style." Jill Stuart is a designer fashion brand based in New York.

PSY is shown in different scenes, including inside of a limo and at the event. Once at the event, PSY begins to dance on the runway. Eventually, the guests join in and begin to dance to "Gangnam Style" as well.

PSY's "Gangnam Style" Reaches #1 on iTunes Singles Chart

PSY has joined the ranks of Kanye West, Taylor Swift, and Maroon 5 after recently surpassing them on the US iTunes top singles chart. "Gangnam Style" is now number one, followed by Kayne West, Jay-Z and Big Sean's "Clique," and Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

"Gangnam Style" has been receiving widespread popularity in the United States, with PSY making appearances on the MTV Video Music Awards, the "Ellen" show, and even performing a concert on the Today show's 'Toyota Concert Series'

The music video for the top hit has also become the most viewed K-Pop video of all time, recently surpassing Girls' Generation' "Gee," in addition to becoming the most liked video on YouTube. "Gangnam Style" is still enjoying its number one spot on the YouTube Top 100, with over 169 million views and 1.6 million likes.
