February 13 was a big night for K-Pop as some of the hottest K-Pop artists gathered together for the 2nd Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.

K-Pop artists such as Big Bang, Super Junior, DBSK, TaeTiSeo, 2NE1, Wonder girls, T-ara, Hello Venus, A Pink and more were in attendance to celebrate and be awarded for their achievements.

This year’s Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards was especially meaningful since many of the winners mentioned the late Lim Yoon Taek of Ulala Session, who passed away on February 11.

Eunjung and Amber to Debut as MCs on MBC Show Champion

 

T-ara's Eunjung and f(x)'s Amber have been chosen as the new MCs of the MBC music program "Show Champion".

A "Show Champion" staff said on the 29th, "After Kim Shinyoung and Shindong, Eunjung and Amber will become the two new MCs of 'Show Champion' in the new year. They are a unique combination that will bring forth a fresh MC experience."

Eunjung and Amber recently shot the intro video and appeared close already. For their MC debut on the 30th, they are planning a special performance which they have been practicing everyday for.

Eunjung and Amber said, "We are burdened by Shindong and Kim Shinyoung's great performance as MCs before us, but we will do our best together to put on the best show possible."

MBC's "Show Champion" airs every Wednesday at 18:00 KST. The ranking for the show is decided by real-time chart rankings on Melon, netizen's opinion and popular voting.

FT Island, Boyfriend, Girls' Generation and More in this Week's Oricon Charts

This week's charts include another load of new releases with FT Island and Boyfriend in the single rankings, each with their most recent releases, as well as Girls' Generation's newest and second full length album "Girls' Generation 2 ~Girls & Peace~."

FT Island's "Polar Star" takes the 2nd place in this week's single ranking after selling 19,400 copies on its first day. The band is closely followed by six member group Boyfriend, whose 2nd Japaneses single "Kimi to Dance Dance Dance/ My Lady ~Fuyu no Koibito~" sold 16,929 copies and got them to the 3rd place.

This week it was also time for the release of Girls' Generation's newest full length album. "Girls' Generation 2 ~Girls & Peace~" got to the 2nd spot.

On the 5th place in this week's single ranking, we find girl group Girls' Generation's latest single "Flower Power." The release sold 29,065 units since its release on November 21st. MYNAME's second Japanese single "What's Up" sold 19,366 copies in its first week, grabbing a 9th spot just before SHU-I whose newest single "Daigyakuten" sold 18,432 copies.

The next coming weeks include releases by various other artists including, U-KISS (12/12), SHINee (12/12) and Supernova (12/19) among others.

This week's Oricon charts include releases by girl group KARA as well as BEAST's newest and a solo track by Supernova's leader Yoonhak. At the same time T-ara, solo artist JUNO, and boy groups Code-V and SHINee also appeared in the charts.

The daily single charts were topped by a Korean group this week, as KARA's newest single "Electric Boy" snatched away first place on its release date. It was followed by BEAST's "Midnight" on a fourth, and Supernova Yoonhak's new single on a fifth place.

On the other hand, SHINee's Dazzling Girl made it to the second spot on the weekly single rankings, selling 97,111 copies in its first week. They're followed by CODE-V on the 8th place. They sold 8,375 copies of their second major release "Sekaiju ga Teki ni Natte mo Kitto Kimi o Mamori Nukukara".

JUNO shows up on a 14th place in the daily album rankings with his first full length album "STYLE". The weekly album rankings on the other hand show T-ara's best of album "T-ara's Best of Best 2009-2012 ~Korean ver.~" on a 16th place after selling 6,585 copies.

'Love Concert in Kobe 2012' to Feature FT Island, 2PM, B1A4 and More

On October 20th, K-Pop fans in Kobe, Japan will be spectating performances by some of today's top Hallyu idol stars.

The concert will be taking place at the Rokko Island Marine Park at 3PM local time. Confirmed to MC the event are Lee Hongki from FT Island and KARA's Seungyeon and Goo Hara.

In addition, fourteen artists will be performing at the event including 2PM, 4minute, B1A4, BEAST, Boyfriend, FT Island, KARA, MBLAQ, Norazo, Secret, SISTAR, Supernova, T-ara, and Teen Top.

T-ara unveils "Sexy Love" MV Teaser

After releasing the album image teaser for their 7th mini-album "Mirage," T-ara revealed the first video clip for their upcoming music video for the track "Sexy Love." Despite the recent controversy surrounding them, T-ara announced their comeback plans and has written an official apology

On August 31st, CCM Global revealed the video teaser on their official Youtube account, which featured T-ara with a "doll-like" concept.

T-ara will be releasing their 7th mini-album, "Mirage," and will promote their new title track, "Sexy Love," on September 7th.

Hwayoung T-ara visit Another Agency

Currently it appears as though the T-ara Hwayoung controversy is starting to wind down. On July 31, it was announced by Core Contents Media (Hereafter, CCM) that Hwayoung’s contract would be extinguished. Afterwards, because of the media and Netizen backlash, the CEO Kim Kwang Soo ended up reporting that he met with Hwayoung’s parents. He also reported on the fact that Hwayoung and her sister Hyoyoung met together.

It was revealed that on August 1, Hwayoung went to visit another agency. It was none other than Maroo Entertainment which used to be a part of CCM. Maroo Entertainment stated, “The visit was nothing more than providing support and consolation.”

Representatives of CCM and Maroo Entertainment both stated, “The CEO is on good terms with Hwayoung’s father and they are both from the same hometown. They met so that he could provide support and consolation.”

A representative of Maroo Entertainment stated, “It was just a simple meeting. Please do not misconstrue the meeting. There are no plans to recruit Hwayoung.”
